My development environment consists of two RasPi computers each with a TNC-Pi mounted on it. I made 3 ft interface cables to connect the TNC-Pi to Baofeng UV-5RA radios. The radios are WAY TOO CLOSE to the RasPi. Attempts to do TCP/IP across the RF link fail miserably.
Initially I thought my software wasn’t configured correctly, but set one RasPi up to ping the other across the link at 5 second intervals and got 7 responses out of 145 sent. Running “listen -cart” on the RasPi shows both systems are transmitting because I can see the ICMP/AX25 packets. I think the RF is interfering with the RasPi’s ability to act on the received packets.
ToDo:
Build RF shielded enclosures for RasPi, build outside antenna to reduce RF into the RasPi. Build shielded interface cable between the RasPi and the transmitter.
